Sir Henry Clithering, ex-commissioner of Scotland Yard, is staying with his old friend Colonel and Mrs Bantry, who live near St Mary Mead. “When I was down here last year we got into the habit of discussing unsolved mysteries…We each supplied a story to which we knew the answer, but nobody else did. It was supposed to be an exercise in deductive faculties — to see who could get nearest to the truth. We hardly realised that Miss Marple was playing; but we were very polite about it — didn’t want to hurt the old dear’s feelings. And now comes the cream of the jest. Miss Marple short stories – my very favorite sleuth I want to include all the stories in my review. I am obsessed with Miss Marple. I own all 12 of the series with Joan Hickson(RIP) who is the quintessential Miss Marple; no one else can hold a candle to her. The apparently harmless old lady brings the most heinous individuals to justice – all the while knitting baby blankets or some such. agatha Christie A short but fascinating story easily solved by the one and only Miss Marple. A nice way to spend a little time when a longer book would not do. I highly recommend it.
