Wonderful sample of Christie mysteries I have read this mystery innumerable times and still enjoy it. As a writer and a reader, I am always entranced by the narrative flow that AC managed to sustain in her books. The writing carries the reader along until you realize you’ve been standing at the kitchen counter for 45 minutes reading just another few pages. You think, this could never happen, but you just keep reading. The milieux and plots, while certainly not early 21 century, are by no means as dated as some of the other writers…

Far from Christie’s best Definitely one of the weakest Poirot novels. It reads to me like a very elderly lady, which Christie was, trying to understand the swinging 60’s London scene through her characters and getting it all wrong. Kind of sad and depressing to be honest. Skip it and go for the earlier Poirot novels.

Unexpected finale Maybe I am stupid about these things but I was wrong about the killer to the last few pages. No Poirot, me. It was an enjoyable read and I particular like the Poirot books where Ariadne plays a major or at least synergistic role.
